Twenty-8 everlasting metal bollards have been set up at the intersection of Swanston and Flinders streets in an effort to make certain pedestrians are stored risk-free on 1 of Melbourne’s busiest websites.

“The intersection of Flinders and Swanston streets is one particular of Melbourne’s most distinguished pedestrian thoroughfares and a crucial gateway into our fantastic city.”
Is effective on the bollards started in late March of this year, and its current completion has noticed 18 mounted outdoors of Youthful & Jackson, and 10 outside the house of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Updates to the spot saw the bollards replace the short term concrete blocks that were beforehand situated in front of both of those structures.
The job was undertaken in partnership with the Victorian Authorities, as element of the government’s $52.5 million Melbourne Protective Security Enhancement system.
The system originated from a partnership amongst the state government, CoM, and Victoria Law enforcement, in order to help bolster Melbourne’s safety, and secure nine of Melbourne’s most higher-profile pedestrian websites from auto-based attacks.
